RYFOPAThe Rochdale Youth and Adult Festival of Music, Speech and Dance takes place throughout the month of March each year at Rochdale Town Hall. Our 2018 festival will be our 56th year of holding this wonderful event. Anyone can enter, regardless of experience, ability or age. There are many various categories including Folk, Percussion, Dance, Drama and Speech. There are competitive categories and non competitive sections such as Whole Class Performance and Talented Tinies. Our Talented Tinies category is designed for Children in Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 so they can gain valuable experience in performing from an early age. Our Whole Class Performance category is an opportunity for whole primary school classes and our projects that we run within schools to be showcased in a performance.
Every other class in the festival is competitive, meaning participants perform and get marked by one of our professional adjudicators and the highest scoring participant in each class gets a 1st place/2nd place medal and the chance to perform at our festival celebration concert.
After the festival has concluded, we hold a celebration concert in the month of May. This concert is designed to give recognition to those who won their class or received some of the highest scores. The concert features performances from a variety of participants from throughout the festival alongside trophy presentations to those awarded them.
