Summer Schools

We here at Trafford Music Service are proud to announce we are running our hugely successful TMS Summer School in 2015. Our fun summer school provides stimulating and creative group activities for children who wish to experience playing instruments. The course lasts for four fun filled days and is taught by professional, experienced, instrumental tutors who are all cleared to work with children.

Dates and times

This year, the summer school will run at The Claremont Centre from Monday 27th July to Thursday 30th July. The Summer School day starts 9.30am and finishes promptly at 3.30pm

Course content:

The summer school is open to children aged from reception to year 6 in the academic year 2014 – 2015. This year’s summer school will cover a range of areas and activities. There will be 2 main group:

Junior age group:

For juniors the day is divided into six sessions and children rotate through activities. Each day has a similar timetable and activities with the exception of Thursday where pupils will also prepare for their afternoon concert.

Activities for children in years 2 – 6 include:
•2x Instrumental sessions
•Ukulele
•Drumming
•Singing
•Musical Awareness (including Dalcroze and Ensemble Skills)

Reception – Year 1

Activities for children in Reception – year 1 include:
•2 x instrument sessions (Reception – ukulele, Year 1 – violin)
•Singing
•Drumming
•Movement and Dance
•Craft
•Ocarina

To give the children a target for development and to show parents and carers the progress made, we will be running a concert at the end of the course.

Concert

There will be a concert on the Thursday at 2.00pm where children will share some of their achievements. Friends or family are welcome to attend however due to a limited audience capacity in our hall we kindly ask that each child only has 1 audience member in attendance. This then makes it possible for every child to have a supporter. Should it be a lovely day we may be able to hold it outside which will allow more to attend – notices will be put up should this be the situation.

Instruments

Children will be assigned their instruments in their first instrumental session; pupils will not be taking instruments home each day.
