GM Hub Celebration Concerts

2020

Sunday 28th June 2020 – The Bridgewater Hall, Manchester

2018

Another sell out concert at Manchester’s world class concert hall and an afternoon of inspiring performances from the talented young musicians from all corners of the GM region. The GM Youth Brass Band, Jazz Orchestra, Wind Orchestra, String Orchestra and Show Choir showcased their music to the highest standard, wowing the audience with their technical brilliance and ensemble skills. Directed by some of the UK’s leading musical directors and educators and supported in their preparations by inspiring tutorial teams, the ensembles tackled demanding repertoire which really raised the bar in terms of what can be achieved in educational ensembles.

GM Junior Chorus

One highlight was the performance of over 500 primary school voices coming together as the GM Primary Chorus to perform Once Upon a Time by Lin Marsh, accompanied by an experienced ensemble of GM Music Hub alumni. The children’s singing was moving, rousing, funny and, of course very high quality. Pre- concert music was provided by the Swan Street Collective, an inclusive ensemble providing opportunity for young musicians with additional needs, and the concert was expertly presented by Tom Redmond whose engaging style linked the whole thing together wonderfully.

Whilst showcasing just a fraction of the work of the GM Hub across the region, this fourth annual Celebration Concert served once again as a representation of the superb quality music provision available to children and young people in Greater Manchester. Don’t miss the 2019 concert on Sunday 23rd June. Tickets on sale in spring 2019 from Bridgewater Hall box office.
