Working in collaboration with the RNCM, the Pathfinder programme aims to increase opportunities for children and young people to access musical activities, and support them in overcoming any barriers they face to their musical progression and development. Musicians, nominated by local music services in the GM Hub, benefit from a range of workshops with RNCM tutors, opportunities to perform with like-minded musicians and inspirational professionals, and they also have the chance to attend free concerts and events, all supported by mentors from the RNCM and BBC Philharmonic Orchestra. The ultimate aim of the programme is to enable children and young people to build their confidence so that they can develop their musical engagement independently, whether this is joining different musical ensembles, undertaking a musical qualification or grade, attending musical performances, or attending the Junior RNCM.
