We are proud to be working with the DfE and Young Sounds UK on the new Music Opportunities Pilot. Through this work we identify children who would not normally have the chance to learn a musical instrument and we offer them specialist musical tuition, musical ‘get togethers’ with other children on the programme in our region, and regular opportunities to connect with musicians already working in the music industry.
Furthering Talent has been growing in Bolton, Blackburn with Darwen and Manchester over the past 10 years and this year we are starting new projects in Bury, Oldham, Rochdale, Tameside and Trafford.
This work is transformational for many of the children on this programme:
“Put bluntly, none of the children who have had the opportunity to learn an instrument would have done so without Furthering Talent. Some opportunities that other children take for granted are simply not available for many children at our school and it fills our hearts with joy to see our young people enjoying learning an instrument.”
“Furthering Talent solved the problem of offering something to our families which we knew many of them could not afford. Our teachers knew what an amazing thing this was. They knew what the lessons meant to the children, and they were completely on board with it.”
