There already exists across the region a very high standard youth brass band network with some of our individual music service youth bands being regarded as amongst the best in the UK. Further to a very successful Brass Day hosted in 2012 by our partners, the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra there was great enthusiasm to bring together the very best young players from our individual brass bands to form a flagship ensemble for the region and extend even further the musical experience of our young brass players.
The GMYBB therefore challenges members with repertoire beyond the reach of most youth bands. There are high expectations for both the speed of learning and of course the eventual musical outcome and this makes for a very challenging and fulfilling experience for all members and their tutorial team.
Membership Information: Each Autumn, tutors from the nine GM Hub Music Services nominate pupils for selection to become members. The GMYBB meets three times each year and performs throughout the year.
